Where can I find drug addiction help?
In most localities, drug addiction help is only a phone call away. Upon opening a telephone business directory, you will see a number of listings of organizations that specialize in drug addiction help.
Many community centers teach useful recovery classes. The drawback of some programs is that they give talk therapy only. While peer support helps, it is often not enough.
Typically, medical and nutritional support is needed in addition to talk therapy and peer support. If something as simple as taking a course of penicillin robs the body of digestive enzymes, how much more damage is done by harsher drugs than penicillin! Repairing this damage usually requires medical and nutritional support.
Look for an organization with medical connections. Check with your doctor and your health insurance policy. Since many health insurance policies pay for mental health and substance abuse issues, follow your doctor’s directions.
Contact churches in your area for help. Many churches offer faith-based recovery programs in connection with medical help. Faith-based drug addiction programs have a very high success rate.
