Lonely Married Woman

QUESTION: I'm a lonely married woman - Who can fill the void?

Do you consider yourself a lonely married woman? You fall in love and get married, dreaming of happily-ever-after. But a few years and a couple of children later, you feel lonely, alone and unloved. You wonder what happened to your happily-ever-after.

The stress and fatigue involved in parenting and jobs and household chores have sapped your relationship with your husband so much so that you don't feel like you even know each other any longer. You have tried talking. You have tried leaving the kids at Grandma's while you two have a weekend away. It works for a while. But, before you know it, things are back to the same old way they were.

You start to wonder if your husband really loves you anymore. You begin to doubt that he was the one for you. Maybe you made a mistake. Maybe your soul mate is still out there somewhere. Maybe life would be easier if you just got out of this marriage and started all over. You would be more careful next time. You would be older and wiser. You would learn from your mistakes.

How many affairs, separations, and divorces have come from a lonely married woman looking to fill the void in her life? Friends are wonderful, but they don't fill it. Work can be very gratifying, but it isn't enough. Children are a wonderful blessing, but they cannot give you what is missing. But, the biggest surprise is that the person you believe can and should fill that void can't do it either!

The only one who can fill the void in your life is not your husband. The One you are looking for is God. The Bible says "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). The knowledge of God is the only complete fulfillment a person can know.

If you know God and are filled with His Holy Spirit, there will never be a void in your heart. Your marriage may not be perfect, but with Him in your life, you will not be lonely. God said, "For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you" (Jeremiah 29:11-12).

God knows your heart and He has a plan for you and your future. He will never fail you. Jesus said, ". . .I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:20). The Bible assures us we are never alone and should be content with what God has given us. "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" (Hebrews 13:5). You don't need to be lonely any longer. God loves you and He is waiting for you.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? - We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
