How To Start Smoking

QUESTION: How to start smoking – Should I even consider it?

ANSWER:

If you’re asking, “How do I start smoking?”, I would respond, “Why do you even want to?” The majority of people start smoking because --
  • a friend/acquaintance offers them a cigarette and they don’t have the confidence to say no.
  • they try it as an experiment after watching others smoke.
  • they are influenced by advertising campaigns or movies.
Unfortunately, smoking has been given a “cool“ image by the advertising and media for so long that it has become ingrained as the cool thing to do. That advertising doesn’t reveal, however, the yellow fingers and teeth, bad breath, the smelly clothes, hair, and body that plague a smoker. These inevitable results of smoking are proof that smoking is not really cool.
Even worse than the aesthetic effects are the horrifying statistics of death and illness due to smoking. No one welcomes cancer, breathing disorders, or heart disease. But if you welcome cigarettes, you’re inviting them into your life.
Another reason to avoid smoking is the threat of a smoking addiction. From your first cigarette, you’ve started on a path to nicotine dependency, a legal drug addiction. If you wish to stop, you will suffer from withdrawal symptoms.
The best decision is to not even start smoking. If you have already started, quit before your health deteriorates and your addiction grows. Find whatever method to stop smoking works best for you, and stick to it. Sometimes, it can be as simple as changing your routine. Avoiding smoke-filled environments also helps.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus
