Survivor of Childhood Sexual Abuse

QUESTION: Survivor of childhood sexual abuse - Does anyone care?

As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I have often pondered this same question: does anyone care about the abuse we went through? Through the years, I have learned that people really do care. They offer to help those who have been through sexual abuse by offering a listening ear.

People have written books sharing their stories of what happened to them and how they healed emotionally. Many survivors of childhood sexual abuse demonstrate that they care by receiving an education in a psychology or counseling field in order to help others.

There are support/advocacy groups that care. They offer a kind and compassionate ear and listen to us share our pain, horror, and trauma. The internet is filled with websites to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse - survive. In addition, there are ministries dedicated to assisting children throughout the world. If you would like to help save children from terrible circumstances, we highly recommend Compassion International.

When I ask myself this question, I realize that God cares about me. He cares deeply about His children and when one of His created human beings has been abused as a child, God cares! He wants us to accept it and overcome it (survive). God has shown me that He cares by His healing power, allowing forgiveness in my life. He cares, because He has sent many people into my life to help me. God desires to give His children a purpose and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
