Ways To Commit Suicide

QUESTION: Ways to commit suicide - Why am I having these thoughts?

Are you thinking of ways to commit suicide? It may be that you are going through a very difficult time in your life. Feelings of failure, rejection or loss, coupled with a fear of the unknown may propel you into wanting to take your own life. Since you do not believe that there are any solutions to your problems or relief for your feelings of despair, you're looking for ways to commit suicide. At least, that is the way that I felt when I last contemplated taking my life.

Several years ago, I was driven to find ways to commit suicide. In fact, I'd attempted suicide twice before, obviously without success. The first two attempts were to gain the attention of lovers who had left me. But, when the thoughts returned the last time, I was frighteningly aware that my intention was no longer to gain attention, but to actually end my life.

Nothing was working for me! I couldn't understand why. Everything that I'd worked so hard to have, I had: marriage to a wonderful man, a good job, and a healthy child. But, after a three year long adulterous affair, my marriage was failing. My job, though challenging, brought me no satisfaction. And, I believed that I was a lousy parent. So, I sought ways to end the "charade." What else could I do?

In my teen years, I joined a church. We sang songs and heard sermons about the goodness of Jesus Christ. As I was considering ending my life, I wondered whether Jesus would help me now. So, I told Him that if He didn't take control of my life, I would end it. I asked Him to take over my life. That said, I felt hopeful for the first time in a long time.

My friend, may I please tell you what a difference the Lord Jesus Christ has made in my life since I prayed that prayer. The Lord heard me and began to change my life, immediately! He will do the same for you, if you believe He will. He has plans for your life or you would not be reading this now.

God knows what you're going through. He knows everything about you. After all, He made you. And, He knows how to turn your life around so that you may experience peace and joy, as you allow Him to control your life. Won't you give your life to Him and allow Him to take care of you for the rest of your life?

I invite you to pray the following prayer and watch how God responds: Dear Jesus, I am feeling very weak and very hopeless right now. I want to end my life. But, Jesus, I believe that You have other plans for me. I believe that You have better plans for me. Please forgive my sins. Teach me to depend upon You to live this life. Please be my Lord and Savior! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?
